Sob a égide de Afrodite: o espaço feminino em O Despertar, de Kate Chopin

Departing from the theoretical principle of the feminine text as a palimpsest that holds subtextual meanings which, in permanent interaction with the textual surface, disarticulate the oppositional and hierarchical backgrounds of patriarchy, this essay intends to offer a general overview on the narrative instance of space in The Awakening, the most important work by Kate Chopin one of the highlights of Realism in the United States, with the intention to show how the space is itself plenty of and at the same time disseminates into the other narrative elements some inter-dictions to gainsay patriarchy. We intend, in this perspective, to develop an analysis of the space and its subtextual inter-relationships displayed in the symbolic implications of the water, the sea, the circle, and the feminine subjectivity awakening of the work's protagonist.

Síndrome metabólica em adolescentes do sexo feminino com sobrepeso e obesidade

OBJETIVO: Avaliar parâmetros bioquímicos e fisiológicos em adolescentes do sexo feminino com sobrepeso/obesidade ou com peso corporal normal e avaliar se fatores de risco cardiovascular, postulados como componentes da síndrome metabólica, já estão presentes nessa faixa etária. MÉTODOS: Estudo transversal, tendo-se comparado a totalidade de meninas com idades entre 12 e 18 anos de um colégio de Ribeirão Preto, divididas em dois grupos: sobrepeso/obesidade (n=30) e controle (n=39). de cada menina, foram avaliados parâmetros antropométricos (peso, estatura, dobras cutâneas, circunferências do abdome e do quadril) e bioquímicos (glicose, insulina, lipidograma, ureia, creatinina, fibrinogênio, PAI-1, ferritina, sódio e microalbuminúria). RESULTADOS: As adolescentes com sobrepeso/obesidade apresentaram níveis maiores de pressão arterial, glicose, triglicérides, ácido úrico, PAI-1, fibrinogênio e insulina e níveis menores de colesterol-HDL em relação ao grupo controle. A análise de alterações e formação de clusters de fatores de risco demonstrou que 76,7% das adolescentes do grupo sobrepeso apresentaram dois ou mais fatores de risco relacionados à síndrome metabólica, enquanto 79,5% das adolescentes do grupo controle apresentaram nenhuma ou apenas uma alteração. Os parâmetros microalbuminúria e ferritina sérica não apresentaram alterações e diferenças entre os grupos. CONCLUSÕES: Adolescentes do sexo feminino com sobrepeso/obesidade já apresentam hipertensão, dislipidemias, disfibrinólise, hiperinsulinemia e clusters de fatores de risco cardiovascular.

Ressocialização: o desafio da educação no sistema prisional feminino

Este artigo é fruto da pesquisa de doutorado em andamento e tem como objetivo discutir, por meio da perspectiva da representação social e dos direitos humanos, o tema da exclusão e ressocialização de mulheres reeducandas, buscando apreender qual o papel do processo educativo institucional na ressocialização dessas mulheres.

Caracterização morfológica dos estádios de desenvolvimento do aparelho reprodutor feminino da rã-touro, Rana catesbeiana, no sistema anfigranja de criação intensiva

The objective of this work was to caracterize the morphological characterization of the development stages of female reproduction apparel of bullfrog Rana catesbeiana from intensive Anfigranja system. During the period of one year, 836 bullfrog females were removed from regrowing and reproduction sections of the Anfigranja system to study the basic aspects of the reproduction of this specie. The collections were realized monthly and, in that occasion, the body and ovary weights for each animal were recorded and their macroscopic gonadal characteristics, registred. The ovaries from 303 females were removed and histologically examined. From the macro and microscopic characteristics analysis set of the ovary, five stages of gonadal maturation for the female of Rana catesbeiana were determined: juvenile, beginning of maturation, intermediate maturation, advance maturation and spent.

In The Middle Ground (1980), Margaret Drabble uses an intertextual web to depict the feminine search for identity and psychological integrity in middle age. This paper attempts to identify and analyze the absorption and integration of other texts in The Middle Ground. The dialogue, both in theme and style, with Virginia Woolf's Mrs Dalloway is initially considered, mostly from the perspective of parody. Other confluences are also studied: with Russian fairy tales, with paintings by Hans Holbein, J. B.Vanmour, Van Dyck, Claude Lorrain and Peter de Hooch, and also its references to the whole of Drabble's literary work.
